In abuse and neglect cases, Deputy Juvenile Officers provide case management that keeps a child's safety and long-term well-being at the center. They coordinate with the Children's Division, service providers, guardians ad litem, and the court to develop and monitor a plan for each child.

The goal of case management is permanency — a safe, stable, and lasting home for every child, achieved as quickly as the child's safety allows, whether through reunification with family or another permanent arrangement.
